Speaking in Confidence

Psychotherapy and counselling take place in a safe and confidential manner. Thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely and understood from a different perspective in order to integrate and lay the past to rest.

Counselling or Psychotherapy ?

Counselling

With counselling, the focus is on co-creating a program to tackle

'here and now' problems, taking account of personal history and the life situation. That focus relates to achievable outcomes appropriate to the time frame.

Psychotherapy

In my work as a psychotherapist I aim to integrate early experiences which have led to unhelpful emotional states and insecure relationships. I focus on experiencing a more grounded sense of self.

Couples' Therapy

Couples work focusses on the couple's ability to relate. Every effort is made to ensure both parties are fully heard and facilitated, impartially and towards a clearer understanding of themselves and their partners.

Working safely and with competence:

As a long standing registered member of UKCP, I ensure that I am always working within my sphere of expertise. This includes many additional trainings and years of experience. If I ever sense that a person could benefit more from a colleague's specialism, I hold a useful referral database.

Monitoring Ethical Bodies:

  • The United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy, the International Association of Relational Transactional Analysis. The Metanoia Institute. EATA & ITA
  • Qualifications and memberships
  • MSC and Diploma in Relational T. A. Psychotherapy issued by the Metanoia Institute in West London
  • Registered member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy ~ Reg number 09160703
  • BA hons and Diploma in Counselling using Transactional Analysis
  • Supervision Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy Metanoia Institute

My theoretical perspective:

I describe my approach as relational. I have a warm open style that facilitates the therapeutic situation. Over the years I have added a wide range of therapy trainings that have included TA, Psychoanalytic theory, Mindfulness Mentalisation, ADHD training, Trauma and working with Alexythimia.

My counselling, Psychotherapy and supervision services serve Kingston, Surbiton, East Molesey & Hampton.

A place of refuge

The Therapeutic Relationship

In an increasingly fractious and mechanised world, a place to rest, reflect and attend to our emotional health is habitually undervalued and neglected.

We are not machines, and when a realistic acceptance of our capacity is blocked from awareness, we often fail to acknowledge the significance of our true emotions and can lose our way trying to cope in unsustainable and damaging ways.

The ability to relate well, both to ourselves and to others is the focus of a trusting and meaningful therapeutic relationship. The givens of that relationship obviously include ethics, compassion and beneficence but essentially the therapeutic intention is focussing on a different, ’more soulful’ way of living, both for short and longer term work. Essentially, the offer to fully feel, know and speak your mind can open new pathways to change. Investing in that process can bring ample reward.
