UKCP registered ~ Experienced and Ethical + Supervisor
Michael Feat
UKCP reg. psychotherapist & supervisor
Whatever has prompted you to make the call, please be assured that your enquiry will be treated confidentially and sensitively.
Two decades of training and experience have gone into providing therapy for the issues listed below. I supervise experienced therapists and examine in London.
Over time I have closely witnessed how acutely people can suffer and the difference an attuned and ethical therapy can make.
I am registered with UKCP as a supervisor and approved by the Metanoia Institute.
[please see below for my supervisory framework]

MESSAGING SERVICE
I know it's not easy to make the call. Please be assured your call will be treated confidentially and respectfully. When I am in session, you will be directed to a message service, please clearly give your name and number and I will call you back at the earliest opportunity.
ETHICS
For many years I have worked with people from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds. A long term member of UKCP, I work respectfully with difference and prioritise a humanistic philosophy.
Psychotherapy and counselling take place in a safe and confidential manner. Thoughts and feelings are to be expressed freely and understood from a different perspective in order to integrate and lay the past to rest.
My integrative supervision diploma was awarded by the Metanoia Institute 11yrs ago.
My frame is grounded in TA and significantly influenced by transference based psychotherapy, Fonagy and Bates Mentalisation therapy and existential therapy. I see experienced therapists and therapists enrolled on training programs.
Couples work focusses on the goal to relate empathically. Every effort is made to ensure both parties are fully heard and facilitated, impartially and towards a clearer understanding of themselves and their partners.
My experience has included working with people in heterosexual & same sex relationships whether monogamous or open.
As a long standing registered member of UKCP, I ensure that I am always working within my sphere of expertise. This includes many additional trainings and years of experience. If I ever sense that a person could benefit more from a colleague's specialism, I hold a useful referral database.
Monitoring Ethical Bodies
My theoretical perspective
I describe my approach as relational. I have a warm open style that facilitates the therapeutic situation. Over the years I have added a wide range of therapy trainings that have included TA, Psychoanalytic theory, Mindfulness, Mentalisation, ADHD training, Trauma informed work and Existential psychotherapy.
My work is grounded in beneficence and autonomy.
The Therapeutic Relationship
In an increasingly fractious and mechanised world, a place to rest, reflect and attend to our emotional health is habitually undervalued and neglected.
We are not machines, and when a realistic acceptance of our capacity is blocked from awareness, we often fail to acknowledge the significance of our true emotions and can lose our way trying to cope in unsustainable and damaging ways.
The ability to relate well, both to ourselves and to others is the focus of a trusting and meaningful therapeutic relationship. The givens of that relationship obviously include ethics, compassion and beneficence but essentially the therapeutic intention is focussing on a different, ’more soulful’ way of living, both for short and longer term work. Essentially, the offer to fully feel, know and speak your mind can open new pathways to change. Investing in that process can bring ample reward.
I provide in-person therapy and supervision from rooms in Kingston [Hampton Wick] Teddington and Surbiton. I also see people online from a private office in Hampton.
My easily accessed and comfortable premises serve: Kingston Upon Thames, Richmond, Hampton and East Molesey. {accurate location details are provided when appointments are arranged}
