FAQ'S

1) Anxious about calling?

Please be assured that all enquiries will be treated sensitively, with clarity and in confidence.

2) Is therapy safe?

At the heart of my practice is a constant monitoring of how the therapy is being received. Through rigorous training and a commitment to my own personal therapy and supervision, I am well supported in delivering a measured model that accounts for each individual's situation. The ethical codes to which I subscribe are carefully monitored by the UKCP and Metanoia [the organisation that trained me] and my therapeutic ethos is " Above all do no harm"

3) Is this therapist right for me?:

I actively encourage people to keep considering their choices and to use their voice ~ My humanistic background means I strongly value equality in the relationship.

4) Confidentiality and GDPR

Trust is the cornerstone of effective therapy. I treat confidentiality very seriously and will outline my legal obligations, responsibilities and commitments during our initial contact to ensure a full understanding around this issue.

My theoretical perspective:

I describe my approach as relational. I have a warm open style that facilitates the therapeutic situation. Over the years I have added a wide range of counselling and therapy trainings that have included CBT, psychoanalytic theory, mindfulness and mentalisation.

Locations Covered: I am an experienced Psychotherapist and Counsellor serving Kingston upon Thames, Hampton, East Molesey and Richmond. I accept private and GP referrals and see Adults [18+], individually and in Couples.I have provided an esteemed Psychotherapy and Counselling service for over 21 years. The focus of my work has centred on helping people experiencing stress; depression; anxiety; loss & bereavement; broken relationships, loneliness, anger and inappropriate internet use.

Additionally I work Online and provide supervision.

Background

Achieving counselling and MSc psychotherapy degrees from the Metanoia Institute in London, I also qualified there as a supervisor and have provided supervision to experienced therapists for some time. I initially worked for many years as an individual and group psychotherapist for the Dove Centre in Aylesbury before establishing a solid private practice. I have been accredited with the UKCP for a number years, and follow a rigorous program of Continuing Professional Development.

Focussed Help

From the first session a clear contractual focus will prioritise your rights in choosing the best way to move forward. For some people that process might be relatively short and solution focussed. For others, greater complexity will mean more time is needed to fully make a difference, this highlights the differences between Psychotherapy, counselling or a more cognitive coaching style. Either way commitment is key to the outcome.

Accreditation

Accredited by Professional Standards Authority and UKCP reg 0916 0703, I have for many years provided an esteemed therapy service, working effectively and empathically to fundamentally improve the quality of peoples’ lives and their relationships. I see adults (18+) individually and in couples and supervise experienced therapists in addition to examining at MSc level.

I bring experience, commitment and warmth to the work and accept GP and private referrals, paying particular attention to cultural and gender difference, safe and ethical practice being key.
